About Us

Our mission is to enhance the well-being of the victims of child abuse through animal-assisted intervention, which involves caring for or spending time with an animal during the child’s journey to recovery from physical, emotional, or psychological trauma. We also support their guardians or foster parents through online course programs. We connect individuals and organizations to work together to create a better future for abused children and animal welfare.

Support for Parents or Guardians

We guide parents or guardians of children who have been abused in caring for themselves and their families. Finding out your child was abused will undoubtedly be your worst experience. Understandably, any parent whose child has been harmed will go through many complex feelings. One of the primary ways to help your child heal and recover is balancing support and resources for yourself and your child. It is vital that you feel you have personal and perhaps professional support.

If you know or suspect that your child has been abused, it can take a toll on you as a parent. It’s essential to find a way to manage your feelings to focus on creating a safe environment for your child that is free from harm, judgment, and blame.

When your child discloses the abuse to you, it is imperative that you, first and foremost, stay calm, believe your child and take immediate actions to reestablish safety. RecoveryThruPets will be here to provide you with the guidance, support and resources needed to assist you on your healing journey.

What We Strive For

Trauma has a consequential impact on the individuals who have experienced it and on families, communities, and society. While significant improvements to various treatment methods have been established, further research is needed to develop a range of efficient and accessible treatment modalities in this area. Nevertheless, animal-assisted intervention (AAI) is a promising alternative that may be uniquely suited to treating a broad range of clients with trauma histories and diagnoses.

Pets as healers. Animal-assisted intervention can reduce pain and anxiety in children with various health and mental conditions. Additionally, it brings animals together with persons with emotional needs to meet those needs.

While there are many approaches abused children can take to make the most out of pet interventions, what matters most is for these children to get paired with the right-fit pet. We want to be part of the change and build a better future for children’s well-being and animal welfare by participating in various activities, from volunteer work to other public advocacy and even resource parenting.
